Now
Today is the feast of our Lady of Guadalupe.
When Mary appeared to Juan Diago, Mary called him the humblest of us. How different than this world's values. Juan was no great scientist, an overachiever just a simple man who worshipped God. He never found a cure for cancer, Humble

The Immacualte Conception of Mary, Our Patroness of the United States
Mary is the Patroness of the United State of America. The First Bishop of The
USA was John Carroll SJ of Baltimore; Bhsiop Carroll was a cousin to Charles
Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence. In 1846, eight years before
the dogma was solemnly defined by Pope Pius IX, the bishops of the United States
declared the Immaculate Conception to be the Patroness of the United States of
America. Since the earliest days of the Church, Catholics have believed that
Mary was preserved from Original Sin from the moment of her conception. When
Christopher Columbus came over, his flagship was named in honor of the
Immaculate Conception. A few American bishops had devotions to the Immaculate
Conception. And since that time, many cathedrals and parish churches, plus the
massive shrine in Washington, DC, have been dedicated in honor of the Immaculate
Conception. Here is a prayer that Bishop Carroll wrote a dedication to Mary as
patroness of the United States
Prayer:
Most Holy Trinity, Our Father in Heaven, who chose Mary as the
fairest of Your daughters, Holy spirit, who chose Mary as Your spouse, God the
Son, who chose Mary as Your Mother, we adore Your majesty and acknowledge Your
eternal authority. Most Holy Trinity we place the United States of America into
the hands of Mary Immaculate in order that she may present our country to you.
Through her, we thank you for the great resources of this land and for the
freedom which has been its heitage. Through the intercession of Mary, have mercy
on the Catholic Church of America. Give us peace. Bless our President and the
officers of government. Grant us a fruitful economy born of justice and labor.
Protect the family life of the Nation. Guard the precious gift of life. Through
Mary, have mercy on the sick, on all who are in need. Mary, Patroness of our land, we
give ourselves to you. Protect us from every harm. Pray for us and all we hold dear.
We ask this in the name of Your son, Jesus and our Brother. Amen

Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Today is the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. From a commentary by Brian Simmons: "Jesus says to us"Simply Join your heart with Mine. If we are living by Grace we are living in His Heart:" And" Become like trusting Children. -Only the Son is able to unveil the Father.' What is love: "This is love: He loved us long before we loved Him and He proved His love by sending us His Son ."
This icon picture was given to the Chesterfield Monastery from Sacred Heart Parish in Trenton. We rented the old convent while our Monastery was being built in Chesterfield. We always remember the many kindness of the priests and people while we were there.

Benny Solemeo January 18, 1900 to February 3, 1986
LIFE OF Benny Solimeo
Picture of Benny on his tractor and Picture of Benny with Brother willy A Divine Word Missionary. They were great friends.
Once Bishop George Arh asked Benny how he got along with the 35 women(nuns) at the Monastery and Benny answered, Bishop you have to have a strong back and a weak mind. "
Benny ( Bernard) Solimeo
Born January 18, 1900- died February 3,1986
Arrived at Bordentown 1921
On the 19th of March,1921, Benny walked up to the front steps of the Poor Clare Monastery, in Bordentown,206 Crosswicks Street, carrying a suitcase. He had come from the Poor Clare Monastery in Philadelphia where he worked and where one of his own sisters, Sister Mary Magdalena, was a nun. Benny also had a blood sister in Evansville, Ind., Sister Mary Alphonsus, Bordentown, NJ Sister Mary Theresa, and in Memphis, Tenn, Sister Mary Bernadette.
Benny came to Bordentown with the suitcase having a dead dog jammed in it to be buried in the Holy Ground of Bordentown. Benny came only for a couple of weeks but stayed there for 65 years.
When Benny first came the sisters provided living quarters in a little outbuilding in the backyard but it was difficult to heat or cool so they moved Benny to a small room under the second-floor stairs. Latter they gave Benny a two-room apartment with
a bath on the second floor.
Benny took care of the farmland, milked the cows, did carpentry, shopping and took the Sisters to the doctors, and ran other errands.
In the spirit of St. Francis Benny loved the birds. The residents of Bordentown were familiar with the daily scene in the front yard of the monastery: hundreds of birds would line up on the telephone wires just before four o’clock each day and wait to be fed. In 198l Benny was honored with an affiliate membership in the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor for his years of service to the Poor Clares.
Benny was buried in the habit of the Order of Friars Minor . His grave is in the cemetery in Bordentown beyond the Old Monastery
